Located on 50 beautiful acres of rolling hills, Ovation Farm is convenient to many places. Located between Sanford and Apex, it is an easy 30 minute drive from Cary, Southern Pines and Pittsboro.
There are three main barns on the property with a total of 42 airy box stalls. Stalls measure a minimum of 12' x 12'; each stall has a dutch door that opens to the outside. Each barn also has a tack room and wash rack with hot and cold water.
There is a heated and air conditioned lounge with television and video equipment available for students and visitors. There is also a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and sink, and bathroom and shower facilities available for clients.
Horse Care
Susie treats all horses in her care as if they were her own. This philosophy separates Encore Sporthorse from many other boarding/training facilities and keeps her barn full of long-term clients.
All horses are checked at least three times a day, in the AM prior to turnout, at the PM feeding, and again during the evening “barn check”. Susie, her working students and/or grooms are available daily to provide a personal touch.
Stalls are bedded with shavings and are cleaned at least once daily, seven days a week. Heated, automatic waterers mean that horses always have access to fresh clean water (www.nelsonmfg.com). All horses are fed Penfield Endurovet feed (www.pennfield.com) and a local Orchard grass or Timothy hay depending on the season. Horses receive hay and feed twice daily and hay again at the evening barn check. Client provided supplements may be added to the morning feeding at no additional cost. Customized feeding plans are available by arrangement.
All horses in training are groomed prior to training sessions. Grooming at other times, and for horse shows, is available by arrangement.
Weather appropriate blanketing is available at no additional fee. Clients must provide all blankets. Only blankets that double as turnout rugs may be used to receive this service.
Carol Kelly of Pressure Points
is a certified equine message therapist and a student of Susie's. She is available to massage your horse. Of course you are always welcome to use your own masseuse.
Five respected farriers service Ovation Farm, however you may contract with the farrier of your choice. Ovation Farm staff is available to hold full-training horses for the farrier at no additional fee, and for others by arrangement.
There are many pastures and paddocks available for turnout. All-day turnout is standard, however individual requests may be accommodated by arrangement. Evening turnout is available May – September and during the day at other times. To insure the safety of your horse, horses are not turned out during inclement weather.
All horses are hand walked to and from the pasture. Horses may be turned out individually, in pairs, or small groups. Horses may be turned out in client provided boots or wraps.
