Team Encore was well represented at the local and National level. Here's to an even more successful 2011! Team Encore 2010 AwardsGAIG Region 1 Championships
USDF Final and All-Breed Awards
This was a good year for Team Encore. We had success in the local, regional and national dressage scene. It seems like we were at a show every weekend this season. It’s great to show in NC. A special shout out to Pat Horning and his bartending skills. We love Patron! The addition of 2 new team members, Teena Middleton and Meredith Wilson added lots of wins for Team Encore, plus they are a lot of fun! Most riders met or exceeded their training aspirations for the year or had at least one breakthrough. Two Linda Zang clinics were educational and well attended (more visits in 2011 please!). Susie and her working students ventured next door and had some fun learning the basics of reining. The upper ring was completely redone and we got a fancy new drag to keep it in shape. Susie secured sponsorship from M & M Tack Shop. Dylan Handy was back as a working student for the summer. Wendy Warner has signed on as a working student (she’s been a great addition). Lots of Team members made the successful transition to move up a level. James was promoted to barn manager. Susie managed to make her holiday decorations visible from outer space. Here’s to an even more successful and fun 2011. Keep riding! Susie and Windwalker, HarmonikSusie got both of her youngsters out in the show ring this year. Winnie is being started slowly. He has been to a few recognized shows as a “guest horse” and is settling into the show scene well. He has conquered Intro and is learning that there are not “horse eating monsters” in the judges stand. Nico got back into the show scene with a few schooling shows. He was very competitive at Training Level at the recognized shows. A few Training Level classes in 2011, and then on to First Level. Susie campaigned several client horses in 2011, including Donatella, Sandokan, and Curtain Call. Riding in only 2 schooling shows and one recognized show, Susie and Curt are 7th at 1st Level for the NCDCTA HOY awards. Sally and FlashSally and Flash had a banner year that was capped off with them placing in both of their GAIG Championship classes. The team was Reserve Champions at Training Level and placed 8th at First Level. Sally was one of only 2 NC riders who placed in either Championship class. They were 3rd place finishers at 1st Level at the NCDCTA Championships. A high score of 73.020 at the Raleigh II score was only one of the many 70% scores turned in this season! Sally and Flash are planning on making a big splash at Second Level in 2011. Sally and Mikhaila (“Mouse”)Sally and “Mouse” made a name for themselves at local events. The team placed first or second at every show they entered! Mikhaila is Susie’s mare and half-sister to Curt. Sally decided to take her on as a project because Susie didn’t have time to devote to this talented mare. Sally is truly an all-around horsewoman – she has competed successfully in Western classes, dressage and now eventing. We are all looking forward to watching this team in 2011. Teena and Mysterious Detail (“Paris”)2010 was the first year that Teena and “Paris” showed dressage and boy did they do it right! They are 2nd in the nation for the USDF Quarter Horse All Breeds Award. They are 1st in the nation in the AQHA standings for Training Level and tied for 2nd at First Level. We should have known this was in the cards when they placed in the 60’s in 6/7 classes of their first recognized show! We are very proud of them both. A 4th place ranking for the NCDCTA HOY Training Level awards rounds out their 2010 dressage accolades. This team also continues to win in non-Dressage classes on the Quarter Horse circuit. A front page article in the NCDCTA newsletter chronicling their dressage journey was an interesting read. We look forward to following their winning ways next season. Meredith and Landgravin – WMeredith and Landgravin had a very successful year at both 3rd and 4th level. This team also represented Team Encore with a 4th place finish in the 4th Level GAIG Championship, and was again one of only 2 NC riders that placed. Meredith was very thoughtful and generous in allowing Dylan to show Landgravin at 3rd Level so that he could receive his Bronze medal. Meredith rocks! Meredith and Landgravin are Reserve Champions at 3rd Level and Champions at 4th Level for the NCDCTA HOY Awards. Many high scores were received by this pairing over the season. Meredith keeps us in tasty snacks and drinks at the shows and we appreciate her treats! A move to PSG is in the works for this team in 2011. Dylan and Minerva, Landgravin – W, and FlashDylan had a goal of getting his Bronze medal during the summer of 2010 and he did it! Thanks to the generosity of Susie, Meredith and Sally, Dylan had very talented mounts to achieve this goal. Riding Flash, Dylan also had a high score of 9 at his first time in a Dressage Seat Equitation Class! Wow! Dylan also scored a front page article in the NCDCTA newsletter highlighting his 2010 accomplishments and his development as a young rider. Landgravin and Dylan were 3rd Level high score winners at the Raleigh I show with a score of 69.4. Dylan showed Pam’s horse Donatella in dressage and eventing. A 66% for her first time at first level and an easy introduction to scary cross-country fences made for a successful pairing this summer. Dylan is scheduled to go to Germany to further his training. We wish him success and are keeping our fingers crossed that he will return next summer. Hannah and Minerva, Free Agent (“Frankie”)Susie also extended her generosity to Hannah in allowing her to show Minerva. Minerva continued to demonstrate why she is the “Queen”, as she and Hannah also had a successful partnership. Hannah and Minerva had the high score at 2nd Level at the Raleigh I show with a score of 64%. Introducing “Frankie” to horse shows was Hannah’s responsibility and they made a seamless transition. “Frankie” was also first his class at the Raleigh Breed show. “Frankie” is a total gentleman when he leaves the farm. He is for sale and thanks to Hannah, he will make someone a great partner. Mary and Leander (“Lee Lee”)Mary and Leander made the jump to PSG. They are 3rd at PSG in the NCDCTA HOY Awards and received the FEI high score at the Raleigh I show, demonstrating this was the right move! A new top hat pairs nicely with her “vintage” shadbelly! Mary was itching to go back down centerline in her shadbelly and 2010 was her year! She and Leander will continue to compete at PSG in 2011. Diana, Mary and Delmonico (“Monico”)Diana was very successful showing Mary’s young horse Delmonico. “Monico” had many 70% scores over the season and qualified at Training Level for the GAIG Region 1 Championships. “Monico” recently moved back to the barn and Mary has started riding him on a regular basis. They are looking forward to strengthening their partnership in 2011. Nancy and Curtain Call (“Curt”)Nancy and “Curt” qualified for the GAIG Championships at Training Level. An unfortunate appearance of the dreaded “tro-canter” at the show was frustrating but they managed to score in the 60’s for all of their classes. Nancy worked diligently with Susie at the show and was able to eliminate the “tro-canter” in the Championship class. Although not in the ribbons, eliminating a training problem at the show was a major accomplishment for Nancy. Susie showed Curt successfully at First Level, including receiving some scores up to 70% and Reserve placing in the 1st Level Sotheby’s Stakes at March Magic. Nancy and Curt will be competing at First Level and Susie at Second Level for 2011. Robert and NarobyRobert and Naroby made a successful return to the show ring in 2010. Robert and Naroby were the First Level Series Champs at Buckhorn Farm. They were very close to qualifying for the Regional Championships, however Robert’s schedule prevented competing for the second score. This pair has been successfully schooling Second Level this year and will be making the move to this level in 2011. Carla and Pieter Poll (“Pieter”)Carla and “Pieter” made their horse show debut at the end of the season and it was worth the wait! A 70% at their very first show as a team was their reward. “Pieter” was introduced to showing this season by Susie and he responded like an “old pro”. He was successful and had many wins at both schooling and recognized shows. Susie and “Pieter” were High Score Training Level Champions at the Raleigh I show with a 70.7%. Tania, Linda and Good Mojo (“Mojo”)Linda introduced “Mojo” to showing at schooling and recognized shows, and was very successful, receiving many 70% scores . Tania schooled “Mojo” at LOL, he was very well behaved and she had a great time! Tania was a selfless volunteer for the Regional Championships in Williamston, driving back and forth to the Triangle every day. Thanks for helping! Expect to see Tania and “Mojo” at schooling shows in 2010 and Linda moving him up to First Level in 2011. Sue and FarbieFarbie is the wonder horse. After a prolonged and complicated medical issue this year, she has come back ready to go. We applaud Sue for her tireless dedication to her partner. Look for Sue and Farbie to make their NC debut at Second Level next season. Alison and Masterpiece (“Percy”), Scooterriffic (“Spot”)Alison successfully competed both “Percy” and “Spot” at local schooling shows this season. This was her first season in the show ring and she was successful, with several first place finishes. Alison is a regular fixture at the horse shows and is a willing and able groom for whoever needs help. Thanks a bunch. We may see Alison on her own horse in 2011…. Lola and GunnerLola was able to lease Gunner after the unfortunate loss of her horse earlier this year. Gunner and Lola are regular fixtures at the Moss Foundation. Lola organizes Team Encore to participate in the annual Moore County Hunter Pace. This year she got 10 DQ’s (and a DK (that’s you James) ) to participate! Everyone had a great time and one Team Encore team even came in 6th place! Pam and DonatellaPam and Donatella continue to make progress in their training. Susie successfully showed Donatella at Training and First Level at schooling and recognized shows. Pam also generously allowed Dylan to show Donatella at First Level and at local events. Emily and Sandokan (“Tiger”)Susie was successful campaigning “Tiger” at First and Second Level. It is fun to watch this fancy pony take on his gigantic competition and win! |
